Frequently Asked Questions

How do I use the Wordle solver?
Type your Wordle guess letters into the boxes — one row per guess. Then click each tile to set its color: gray means the letter is not in the answer, yellow means it's in the word but wrong position, and green means correct position. Hit Find Words to filter all remaining valid answers.
How does the filtering algorithm work?
All constraints from all your guesses are applied simultaneously. Green letters lock their exact position. Yellow letters must appear somewhere in the answer, but not at the position you marked. Gray letters are excluded from the answer entirely — unless the same letter also appears green or yellow in another position (accounting for duplicate letters). Every word that passes all constraints appears in the results.
What are the best starting words for Wordle?
Top starting words maximize common letter coverage: CRANE, SLATE, RAISE, STARE, and ADIEU. These cover high-frequency letters (E, A, R, S, T, I) across all 5 positions. Using two strong openers like CRANE + SPOUT can eliminate over 70% of letters in just two guesses. See our full guide on best starting words.
