Frequently Asked Questions
How does the Spelling Bee solver work?
Enter the 7 letters shown in your Spelling Bee puzzle — click the center cell to mark it as the required letter (shown in gold). The solver filters our 8,000-word dictionary to find every word that uses only those letters and must include the center letter. Results are grouped by word length with pangrams highlighted in gold.
What is a pangram in Spelling Bee?
A pangram is a word that uses all 7 of your available letters at least once. In the NYT Spelling Bee, pangrams earn extra points and are the hardest words to find. They are highlighted in gold on the results page so you can spot them immediately.
What are the rules for valid Spelling Bee words?
Every word must: (1) be 4 or more letters long, (2) contain the required center letter, and (3) only use the 7 available letters — letters may repeat. No proper nouns, no hyphenated words, no offensive language.
